This week has really brought out the survivor in each of the attendees. It’s the white-knuckle week. Everyone is acutely aware that the end of the programme is rapidly approaching, and that much of their time toward the end will be spent printing specimens and preparing presentations. Week #2 Exploring the design space

The first week of TypeParis is an excellent way to get acquainted with the programme. It provides a snapshot of the many experiences one can expect to enjoy over the coming 5 weeks. So much is covered, that during Week 02 the attendees are already able to draw from a vast bank of knowledge, gathered the week prior.
Week #1 And so it begins

At the beginning of TypeParis, a focus is placed on calligraphic forms, which serve as the foundation on which to build a humanist typeface design; the class’ first challenge. Julien Priez, a core instructor and gifted calligrapher, walks the class through exercises that introduces them to basic forms, pressure, structure, contrast, ductus.
