Learn how to take Glyphs to its full potential: Glyphs core team Georg Seifert and Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer (who speaks French) will help you unlocks the secrets of Glyphs, playing with Variable fonts technology! A unique chance for all local designers to learn some of the features that make their favorite vector tool so unique. This is a joint effort with Glyphs.

A unique chance for all local graphic designers, lettering designers, type designers to be able to learn all the classic and new features in Glyphs 3. Glyphs core team Georg Seifert and Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer will be there for you at TypeParis.
➜ The day after you can register to Advanced Font Nerdy: The two workshops are complementary, but this Sunday workshop is intended for experienced designers and font engineers.
Abracadabra Glyphs topics?
You will learn to set up and create a variable font in Glyphs. We will draw a few letters and symbols, add an axis or two, and animate them in a web browser. In the afternoon, we will draw a color symbol and make it move as well. You will learn how to draw shapes so that they can be interpolated, how to set up variation axes, how to set up color layers, and how to export and test your font file.
Limited to 20 attendees:
– Type designers who use Glyphs as well others font design tools. No level required, from beginners to ultra pro.
– It’s in English, mais les francophones sont bienvenus puisque Rainer parle français.
No prior knowledge of type design necessary. Bring your MacBook with the latest version of Glyphs 3 preinstalled, make sure you updated to the most recent beta: Glyphs > Preferences > Updates: enable Cutting Edge Versions and check for updates.
With the current available information, we do our best to observe the social distancing between the participants during our classes. We recommend to wash ands often as well wearing mask. Our instructors are vaccinated. We request a proof of vaccination against Covid-19 or negative RT-PC: pdf or via your app (in France we use Pass Anti-Covid). Bauhaus University graduate Georg Seifert is a type designer and a software developer. His typeface families Graublau Sans and Graublau Slab have become international bestsellers. He co-developed the typeface for the new Berlin Airport. He is most well known, however, for the font editor Glyphs, first released in 2011. Seifert lives and works in Berlin.
Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer
Rainer Erich (Eric) Scheichelbauer was born in Vienna, and studied photography, philosophy and Dutch. Today, he creates and produces typefaces, teaches type design, gives type design workshops, translates Dutch books on typography into German, and writes articles and Python scripts. Rainer joined the Glyphs team in 2012, and has been writing tutorials and the handbook.
