This application page is for people who apply for Foundation or Expert. [Check the Spring27 page for details].
You will have to prepare a A4 (we prefer landscape!) named “yourname-familyname-typeparis27” that is no larger than ~12 MB.
If you’re not sure about your portfolio, please send it by advance, we will be happy to share some advice. Check the FAQ for additional details. The PDF needs to include the following two sections for Foundation and Expert levels:
➽ Portfolio Foundation level No more than twelve graphic/typographic design projects (the limit is 12 pages). These should demonstrate your proficiency in graphic design, typography, lettering and some knowledge of Béziers curves! If a project involves other people please state your role.
➽ Curriculum-résumé Foundation level as additional page about your background (at the end of your portfolio), including any specific courses or workshops you’ve undertaken; which software applications you are proficient with (at least Adobe Illustrator); and any traditional techniques or skills such as calligraphy and lettering if you have some knowledge of them.
➽ Portfolio Expert level No more than twelve type/typographic/graphic design projects (the limit is 12 pages). These should demonstrate your proficiency in type design, typography, and lettering! If a project involves other people, please state your role. In addition (up to six additional pages), describe your typeface project being expanded during the programme. Typically, a typeface is started by yourself alone, or following a previous type course, a workshop in type design, even the TypeParis Summer course.
➽ Curriculum-résumé Expert level as additional page about your background (at the end of your portfolio), including any specific courses or workshops you’ve undertaken; which type software applications you are proficient with; and any traditional techniques or skills such as calligraphy and lettering.
Finally, the online form ask you to write 250 words (maximum) describing your interest for the Foundation level course in typeface design and lettering.
In case you apply for Expert level, explain also your motivation for the typeface you want to develop during the course. This will help the jury to learn more about you and your motivation.
Upload your portfolio, pay the €90 fee to confirm your registration. The application deadline is midnight (UTC-11) on 13 January 2027. This means you can apply until 14 January 2027 from: ▷ Singapore 18:59. ▷ Paris 11:59. ▷ New York 06:59. You’re a bit late? Contact us by email.
Applicants will be informed of their acceptance status by 20 January 2027.
Any incomplete applications will be rejected. Following your payment, you should be redirected to a confirmation page. If you have any trouble with the form or payment process, please contact us.
You will only be accepted onto the programme after full payment of the €3950 tuition fees (due no later than 10 February 2027). Payment instructions will be provided with the acceptance notification. Check the FAQ as well the terms and conditions for additional details.
Note: Prices are in Euro and free of taxes. French and EU customer will have to pay the additional 20% French VAT.
