Lutèce
Lutèce is a typeface that finds its roots in the 13th-century in France, a period considered to be Gothic Art’s golden age, a time when Paris was booming, thanks in particular to river trade on the Seine, a veritable strategic axis.
Inspired by this culturally rich era, Lutèce uses the characteristic shapes and serifs of medieval French calligraphy. To add roundness and softness, I also took influences from Rotunda, a more curvy Gothic script from Spain. I fused these influences into my calligraphy, then accentuated them in the design of the letters on tracing paper.
This mix of influences reflects absolutely my personal identity: born in Paris, with Spanish origins, Lutèce is the fruit of a dialogue between two cultures, between architectural rigor, creativity and calligraphic flexibility. The letters of Lutèce are designed to be open-air and legible, while asserting a strong personality, marked by alternating curves and sharp angles, reflecting Gothic architecture.
The typeface is available in six weights - Regular, SemiBold, Bold, ExtraBold, Heavy, Black - as well as in Light Display and Italic, to offer a wide range of graphic uses.
