Korobi
Korobi is a flavourful text typeface designed for long form reading. The goal was to create a typeface that is inspired by the dynamism and roundness of a particular brand of Bengali calligraphy and lettering. The challenge was to retain the same personality in the Latin design as the Bengali one but without directly copying the strokes. Doing a lot of calligraphy in both the scripts was particularly helpful as it allowed me to find parallels between the two writing systems, thereby enabling me to borrow details from Bengali for use in the Latin design. This way of working has now opened up a new world of opportunity for me in terms of bilingual lettering/ type design.
