Why do we need more typefaces?
This is the 1st or 2nd most common question I heard in the last 16 years, since I announced: “I’m going to draw fonts!”. It's a tricky question. I could give you an easy answer: why so many songs, TV shows, yoghurt flavors? But in this talk I am going to try to answer this question on a deeper level. After a short analysis of a newsletter from October 1933 that argues around this topic, I will take you on a journey that introduces five reasons for developing more typefaces.
