Antonio Cavedoni is a type designer and researcher from Sassuolo, Italy. He studied type design at the University of Reading, then worked for seven years as a fonts engineer & type designer at Apple, in California. Since late 2016, he is back in Italy working on his new type foundry & lettering studio called the Fonderia Cavedoni, based in Milano.
Together with Elisa Rebellato, in 2017 he curated & edited the first exhibition and catalog on the work of the Officine Simoncini of Bologna. Apart from 20th century Italian type history, Antonio’s professional interests also include topics such as letter cutting in stone & wood, punch cutting, epigraphy, lettering for signage, the history and development of numbers, & more.
