Anni Seligmann, Studio Mut

Designing questions

Now25 ✚

This talk looks at design not as a solution-making process, but as a way of (re)framing the project from the start. It explores how challenging assumptions and resisting the comfort of fast answers can lead to more specific, surprising, and resonant outcomes. It’s about using curiosity as a tool, embracing uncertainty and trusting intuition over habit—stepping beyond familiar tools, styles, and expectations. Most importantly, it’s about allowing the work to be shaped by the questions we ask before we begin.

Interview ✚

Studio Mut is considered one of the most influential graphic design studios in Italy. Their work includes identity, print, editorial and web design for clients spanning art, culture and commerce. They are known for their exuberant style, both in person and in their work, and for creating grand and colourful works with an air of both playfulness and seriousness. The studio is directed by Thomas Kronbichler, Martin Kerschbaumer and Anni Seligmann.

After studying Communication Design in Germany, Anni relocated to New York City to work with clients such as OMA, Lincoln Center Theater, and Brooklyn Public Library. She joined Studio Mut in 2019 and has since been essential in shaping projects for Museion, Inn Situ, Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare, and Louis Vuitton.
