Grenelle
Grenelle typeface family has been designed with the intention to explore different kind of contrast under the same type family. The main idea is to design a family that instead of having different weight, would have different style of contrast.
The family aim to connect the French high contrast Didone types with the weirdness of the reverse contrast All the different style they are all based on the same reference and model, a Didone typeface taken from the “Petit Carême De Massillon de Eveque De Clermont”.
Having designed these diametrically opposite versions: low, high and reverse contrast, the interpolation of these three different extremes produced surprisingly and unexpected new weights.
Grenelle Regular, Grenelle Display and Grenelle reverse interpolated togheter create: Grenelle Semi-Display, Grenelle Semi-Reverse Semi-Display and Grenelle Semi-Reverse.
