Sapientis
A study in structure, clarity, and control — set in Sapientis.
Sapientis began as an exploration into how a typeface might embody a fictional character— Petyr Baelish from Game of Thrones. The goal was to imagine what letterforms would look like if shaped by someone sharp, cunning, well-read, and shrouded in mystery.
Over four weeks of exploring character, stroke, and contrast—through sketching, inking, designing, digitising, critiques, and spacing refinement—I developed a typeface with sharp transitions, angular cuts, and medium contrast that gives it a structured yet expressive personality.
Designed for body text, it combines rigid forms with controlled curves to ensure clarity and legibility across extended reading. Its precise geometry and subtle tension lend it a quiet authority, making it ideal for editorial and literary use. The result is a typeface that is both elegant and assertive—perfect for long-form content that demands sophistication without drawing unnecessary attention.
This is not a decorative voice; it is a deliberate one.
The 6-week type design programme that you’ve been waiting for starts on 2 June and ends 10 July 2026.
