Join Gemma O’Brien for Experimental Lettering: a full day workshop that invites you to bring language to life through a variety of hands-on techniques.

This workshop is welcome to all. Prior experience is great, but not necessary.

The workshop will begin with demos in two approaches: illustrated letters inspired by nature, and experimental calligraphy with brush pens, balsa wood & ink.

Participants will then choose their preferred approach to continue with in the second part of the workshop and work independently with one-on-one guidance as required.

Participants are asked to bring a shortlist of words, phrases, letters and numbers that are meaningful to them as a starting point for their designs.

A variety of brush pens, pencil B, balsa wood, ink and worksheets will be provided but please bring your own (don't buy new things):

  • Eraser
  • Ruler
  • Personal Sketch book
  • Any other drawing tool you like to use (pencils, brushes…)

10:00—17:00 with a 1 hour break.

Paris (near the Eiffel Tower) Exact location sent to registered participants after booking.

Note: This workshop takes place the day after the #Now23 conference. It requires a separate ticket and is not included in the Now23 ticket access.
