Join Gemma O’Brien for Experimental Lettering: a full day workshop that invites you to bring language to life through a variety of hands-on techniques.
Who?
This workshop is welcome to all. Prior experience is great, but not necessary.
What?
The workshop will begin with demos in two approaches: illustrated letters inspired by nature, and experimental calligraphy with brush pens, balsa wood & ink.
Participants will then choose their preferred approach to continue with in the second part of the workshop and work independently with one-on-one guidance as required.
Participants are asked to bring a shortlist of words, phrases, letters and numbers that are meaningful to them as a starting point for their designs.
Materials
A variety of brush pens, pencil B, balsa wood, ink and worksheets will be provided but please bring your own (don't buy new things):
- Eraser

- Any other drawing tool you like to use (pencils, brushes…)
Time
10:00—17:00 with a 1 hour break.
