Rachel Joy will take you on a whistle-stop tour of her journey to a life full of letters (including her connection to the Titanic!) She will share some of her favourite jobs shaping letters for brands worldwide, and the projects that have given her blank canvases on which to spread joy in the shape of large 3D colourful words…
Rachel Joy is a lettering artist based between Paris and London. Routed in the traditional craft of sign painting (inspired by her Great Grandfather), she has developed her own style with 3D letters. She aims to evoke positivity through her work, using exaggerated and playful forms along with bold colour combinations. Rachel has crafted letters for brands worldwide, working on smaller canvases of packaging and print through to adding colour and joy to big public walls.
The 3-week type design course starts on 5 April and ends 24 April 2027.
After 10 years in Paris, we reinvent our type design programme. We go from 6 weeks to 3 weeks, while maintaining the fundamentals that make TypeParis’ reputation.
The course will take place in Menorca, Spain for the first time. In 2027, we offer two levels, Foundation and Expert, which allows you to discover type design, or to gain expertise after an initial training.
