Roxane Gataud (1991) is an independent typeface designer from France. She studied graphic design at Estienne and Esaab, then typeface design in Amiens. There, Roxane designed her first original typeface, Bely, then graduated with honors in 2014. That same year she was awarded TypeTogether’s first Typeface Publishing Incentive Program, through which Bely was released in January 2016. SOTA awarded Roxane the 2016 Catalyst award for her current achievements and her promising future in the field of typeface design. Roxane has collaborated with different foundries since graduation, such as TypeTogether, 205TF, Typofonderie, Typefactory, and Production Type. When she is not assisting other designers, Roxane designs her own typefaces. She lives in Paris where she also collects fruit labels, dinosaurs, and pictures of type in the wild.

Roxane Gataud (1991) est dessinatrice de caractères indépendante française. Après des études de graphisme à Estienne et l’Esaab, elle étudie le design typographique à Amiens. Elle obtient son diplôme avec les félicitations du jury en 2014 avec sa première famille de caractères originale Bely. La même année, le Bely est sélectionné par TypeTogether pour la première édition du “Typeface Publishing Incentive Program;” il est disponible à la vente depuis 2016. Roxane reçoit le Catalyst Award 2016 décerné par l’association américaine SOTA pour ses accomplissements ainsi qu’un futur prometteur dans le domaine de la typographie. Roxane a travaillé avec différentes fonderies telles que TypeTogether, 205TF, Typofonderie, Typefactory, et Production Type. Quand elle n’assiste pas d’autres designers, elle travaille sur sa production personnelle. Elle vit à Paris, où elle collectionne les étiquettes de fruits, les dinosaures et des photos de typographie vernaculaire.
