Michelle Phillips and Johannes Conrad studied Graphic Design and Fine Arts with Music at the University of Brighton. They founded their Berlin based design studio Yukiko, in 2012. The studio specialises in Creative Direction, Art Direction and Design for print and digital media and has made a name for itself with its unapologetic design for a number of periodicals, such as Flaneur, Sleek, Sofa, Cura which has lead them to winning numerous awards at D&AD, TDC and ADC Germany, amongst many others. Currently the studio works within the culture and fashion sectors. Their projects vary from teaming up with Nike on global campaigns to catalogues and branding for cultural institutions, such as the prestigious museum, Hamburger Bahnhof. The studio consists of 6 designers from 5 different nationalities.

Our summer programme is in English and covers typeface design and calligraphy techniques, type history, and software practices. Every kind of design professional can learn about type design in a relatively short amount of time.
