Using three of our main projects as case studies, we would like to share with you how we consider the role of typography in the creation and development of a corporate identity that is clear, powerful and generous.
Typographic choices are just one of a number of fundamental elements: the tone is set by the choice of iconography and photography, the wording, the color range, the materials used, the animation, and so on. How does all this combine to define a powerful and specific identity?
Zoo is a Paris-based design studio founded in 2013. Julie Galand and Baptiste de l’Espinay are two founding partners, managing creative direction. The studio now has a team of 7, including graphic and type designers and a studio manager. Zoo provides services in the fields of art, design, cultural institutions, brands and fashion. Zoo believes in strength of plain ideas and in the necessity of a clear language. The studio’s creative strategy is mainly based on a pop and sophisticated approach to images, combined with an in-depth knowledge of typography. Zoo is notably involved in the complete overhaul of the visual identity of major cultural institutions such as Musée d’Orsay and Chaillot-Théâtre national de la Danse.
Zoo also works with clients such as Prada, Centre Pompidou, Maitrepierre, Gallimard, MOCO, Château d’Écouen-Musée national de la Renaissance, Intramuros, Van Cleef & Arpels, and many more.
